I bought my ’63 Corvette in 1968 for $1250. I was just out of the army and my dad lent me the money to buy the Riverside Red Roadster. Now, 55 years later, Powerglide is a blessing for these old bones. Oh yes, I only have the car 54 years because in 1979 it was stolen from outside the hospital where my son was being born. My book—“Corvette Odyssey,” tells how I tracked it down and what I had to do to bring it home. The car’s in good unrestored condition and I plan to drive it for as long as I can drop into a bucket seat. My wife and I eloped in the car in 1973. It’s kind of like a time capsule in that I always feel younger when driving it.
